martyr watch 2008

If Hillary Clinton were to be assassinated following a speech at West Point, would suspicion fall on the army/bush administration? At the very least public pressure would prompt some sort of investigation. Why, then, would we be so quick to dismiss General Musharaff's government of involvement in the plot against Bhutto!

MITT ROMNEY: MORMON

MORMON politician Mitt Romney made a big speech about how he believes the Garden of Eden is in Missouri and we get to live on an asteroid when we die.

"Freedom requires religion just as religion requires freedom. Freedom opens the windows of the soul so that man can discover his most profound beliefs and commune with God. Freedom and religion endure together, or perish alone."

That is offensive. Yes it is okay for the president to say things that are awful.

MORMON presidential candidate Mitt Romney went on to say:

"There are some who would have a presidential candidate describe and explain his church's distinctive doctrines. To do so would enable the very religious test the founders prohibited in the Constitution. No candidate should become the spokesman for his faith. For if he becomes president he will need the prayers of the people of all faiths."

Famous MORMON Mitt Romney says we can't have a president who isn't religious... but we also can't ask him about the crazy parts of his religion.

MITT ROMNEY: HAIRCUT

Thursday, November 29, 2007

from "autobiography of a schizophrenic girl" by marguerite sechehaye:

"Suddenly, as I was passing the school, I heard a german song; the children were having a singing lesson. I stopped to listen, and at that instant a strange feeling came over me, a feeling hard to analyze but akin to something I was to know too well later--a disturbing sense of unreality. It seemed to me that I no longer recognized the school, it had become as large as a barracks; the singing children were prisoners, compelled to sing. It was as though the school and the children's song were set apart from the rest of the world. At the same time my eye encountered a field of wheat whose limits I could not see. The yellow vastness, dazzling in the sun, bound up with the song of the children imprisoned in the smooth stone school-barracks, filled me with such anxiety that I broke down into sobs. I ran home to our garden and began to play "to make things seem as they usually were," that is, to return to reality. It was the first appearance of those elements which were always present in later sensations of unreality: illimitable vastness, brilliant light, and the gloss and smoothness of material things."
